The Antikvariiatti Sofia’s (antiquarian bookshop) roots go back to legendary Antikvariiatti Seppo Hiltunen who founded his antiquary bookshop in 1985 on Helsinki’s Sofiankatu. Kaija Kuusela, the majority owner of Antiquariatti Sofia, started her career as a bookseller at the Hiltunen store and overtook the business after Hiltunen retired. The current store was opened in premises rented from the University of Helsinki at Vuorikatu 5 in 2012. The CEO is currently Kaija’s son, an alumnus of the University of Helsinki, Doctor of Philosophy Antti Kuusela.

Antikvariatti Sofia’s store offers sofas to take a break from the hustle and bustle and browse the comprehensive book selection in an enjoyable setting. There is also plenty to see in the changing art exhibitions. Various events bring people interested in literature, science and research together and enable interesting conversations.

The University of Helsinki and its people are important to us. We want to be involved in supporting the activities of the Alumni Association and encourage alumni of the University of Helsinki to engage with multifaceted literature. We offer high-quality books to members of the alumni association, and we strive to help alumni recycle their books for new readers.

For members of the Alumni Association, we offer a 20% discount on books in the store, as well as invitations to events at the store and special discounts aimed at alumni. In addition to the online channels of the Alumni Association, they will be announced on Antikvariaatti Sofia’s website and social media channels.
